This Week in the Market: September 1st

Mike Apiaries: honey, jams/jellies (including raspberry jalapeno jam!), beets, carrots, cukes, leeks, kohlarbi, zucchini, apples, and a few blueberries.
The Wholesome Hippie: coconut "Miracle Granola" and a coconut-free variety as well.
DJ Mouse from Cayman Farms: breads, chutneys, and hot sauces.
Kim Herschler from Deeps Coffee: home-roasted coffee: Kenya AA Kichwa Tembo, Guatemala Huehuetenango, fair-trade organic Peruvian, Mexican Chiapas Decaf, Sumatra Mandheling, and latte-style espresso blend. Plus, pints of cherry tomatoes in various shapes, sizes, and colors.
Stacey with Energy for Life Connection: fresh packets of thyme or basil sesame seed and wonderful sea salt blends. All your end of summer well-being needs in tinctures, dried herb teas, salves, lotions, and smudges. Lavender/sweetgrass and sweetgrass turtles.
Jamison Meats: fresh local meats including beef, pork & chicken. Look for the white van near the edge of the plaza.
Deb Shubat: slicing and cherry tomatoes, canning tomatoes, rainbow carrots, zucchini, winter squash, really cute gourds, and cut flowers.
Bayfield Apple Co.: fresh blueberries along with our line of jams, jellies, fruit butters and fruit mustards and also our cider.
Peggy Sobczak: perennials for sun and shade.
Maxine Jordahl: bakery, canned goods, chives, and basil.
The Lily Ladies: information available about ordering beautiful lilies.




Art In the Plaza

A constantly changing bazaar featuring goods and demonstrations from local artists and crafters. Everything from jewelry and decorative garden stakes to paintings, craft items, and hand-blown glassworks. Look for these artists at the Market throughout the summer:

Gayle Friday - garden chairs, wreaths, bird houses, twined rugs, and felted baby booties.

Megan Shuey - beaded and imitation chain mail jewelry, and jewelry made with buttons.

Naomi Yaeger-Bischoff - 2011 calendars called "Everyday Duluth 2011 ~ Unique Scenes a Duluthian might see on an ordinary day."

Students for Sustainability - apple wood chips and wood carvings.

Margo Herbert, Brassy Broad Originals - Bead embroidery, goddess pins, cuff bracelets, clay face beaded brooches, strung necklaces, and amulet bag necklaces.

Barb Maki - beaded crochet bracelets, crystal heart necklaces and earrings, and lanyards.

Depending on availability, vendors from Lake Superior Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota offer bedding plants, hanging baskets, perennials, annuals, vegetable transplants, fresh fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, farm fresh pasture raised eggs, organic culinary herbs, lotions, balms, cold relief teas and drops, skin products (including itch/rash relief) and more!

Music In the Plaza:
Leif Hinkel


"Absolutely, I Do" started off as a solo acoustic project by Leif Hinkel. While still playing in other bands, "Absolutely, I Do" remains his main focus. He pulls inspiration from all sorts of genres and artists, but from listening you'd get the feeling of acoustic folk songs. He is a student at Harbor City International School and the son of Alison Aune Hinkel, an associate professor in the School of Fine Arts at UMD.
