COURSE SUPPORT AND TEXTBOOKS
As online instruction continues through the semester, we are working remotely to help provide the materials you need to complete the semester. Our staff is working with the faculty and publishers to ensure you have access to the materials you need to continue your studies.
We are currently working on a plan for textbook rental returns; additional communication will follow as we finalize our plans in the coming weeks.
We committed to helping our faculty and students transition to off-site learning. Here is some information from our course materials vendors on digital resources available to our campus.
We are here to help you and your students at the UMD. Reference the information below about the free access Cengage is offering as well as a recorded webinar from one of our faculty partners about moving courses online. Cengage is offering complimentary access to you and your students to any of our eBooks and courseware solutions and CengageUnlimited (MindTap, WebAssign, Owlv2, etc..) for the rest of the semester. If this is something that you are interested in, please reach out to Cengage so we can schedule a training and we get your courses set up to offer this solution. Through our RedShelf Responds initiative, we are providing free access to digital textbooks (to students from nonprofit, semester-based colleges and universities) through May 25 thanks to the generosity of our publishing partners. VitalSource, one of our online textbook providers, is offering free access to ebooks for students at identified semester-calendar institutions through May 25, 2020. While over 100 leading publishers have made ebooks available through this program, courseware and titles from non-participating publishers are not included. Students can get started using this service today at bookshelf.vitalsource.com by logging in with their institution-provided email address. Each account can access up to seven titles.
