A Note About Course Works

Course Works is a new University of Minnesota program that provides all degree-seeking undergraduate students with their required printed and digital textbooks for a flat rate of $279 per semester, with access on day one.

Students who are enrolled in Course Works Complete or Course Works Select do not need to purchase/order required textbooks. All required digital course materials will be available in your Canvas Bookshelf; all required textbooks can be picked up at UMD Stores the week before classes begin. The last day to make opting and purchase decisions for the SPRING semester is January 30th, 2025.

How to Find Your OPTIONAL Course Materials

Optional materials are not included in the CourseWorks program. Items like BarChart study guides, calculators, class art supply kits, lab goggles, etc. must be purchased separately.

Go to http://www.myu.umn.edu and log in to your MyU account
Click on the "Academics" tab
Click "View Calendar" and choose a day when classes are in session
Click on the "Textbooks-UMD" tab to have your materials automatically populate in our website at umdstores.com. Use this list to order online or shop in-store.

Important Information for ALL Course Material Orders

This textbook information is correct as we know it, as of this date. Changes, modifications and additions to course number, section, ISBN or price may be made at any time up to and including the first few weeks of the session for which these numbers have been provided. The information (ISBN numbers and required status) provided below is not meant as a guarantee for purchases made other than at the bookstore. UMD Stores will not make exchanges, refunds, or any compensation for books mistakenly purchased from other sources utilizing the information below.

Online Reservation Orders (For Items NOT INCLUDED in Course Works)

Items included in Course Works Complete DO NOT need to be ordered/reserved online.
Online reservation is available before the start of each semester, until the cutoff date. Online ordering is available again at the beginning of the semester. You must be registered for classes. Save the shipping fees and reserve your materials for the semester, and pick up during Move-In Weekend (Fall) or the day before classes start (Spring)
You can place an online reservation order with any major credit card, or with your U Card (charge to your student account.) We fill orders in the order that they are received, and charge out the week before the semester starts.
Prefer to shop in-store? Course materials, art kits and laptops can be purchased in-store prior to, and during the current semester until the cutoff date. (Some materials are returned to the publishers at that time.) Fall materials are on the shelf in mid August; Spring materials in December.

UPS-Ground Shipped Orders

All course materials orders have a flat shipping rate of $9.99.
Currently enrolled students can charge orders to their tuition account using their U Card. Purchases MUST be picked up IN-STORE only. No U Card orders will be shipped.
Orders cannot be shipped to PO boxes or campus residence hall (dorm/apt) addresses.
